Four Seasons on Dam Lake

Most lakehouses close up in October. Casa Muzyka was built for the other eight months as much as the summer — a 25-foot fieldstone fireplace, a radiant-heated Muskoka room, a six-person steam spa, a 120-inch theatre, and a valley that gets quieter and more beautiful the further you get from August.

Autumn — Algonquin at Its Best

The east side of Algonquin peaks from late September to mid-October, and it's the least crowded way to see it. Hike or bike the trails, take the boat out on a still lake, then come back to the firepit and the fireplace.

Winter — Snow on the Doorstep

Snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and winter hiking straight from the house. Dam Lake freezes hard for skating, shinny hockey and ice fishing. Barry's Bay is an OFSC Early Season Priority area, so sled trails open before most of Ontario — the trailhead is about 5 km away. Calabogie Peaks for downhill.

Spring — Whitewater & Quiet

The Madawaska is one of North America's best rivers for learning whitewater, and the runs are at their biggest in the spring melt. Trails are empty, the lake comes back to life, and our rates are the lowest of the year.

Ontario's most famous wilderness park is the closest gateway from Barry's Bay. Hike the Lookout Trail, paddle interior canoe routes, and watch for moose at dawn.
